Secondo had always been a proud man and thought he had been too young to name a successor - although there had always been two he could have chosen from. When he died, no successor was named. The two successors, both related to Neo Vongola Primo, would not give in to their other and neither were willing to give up the potential position with a Ring battle - especially when death could happen from the battles. So the stronger of the two, who believed that they were the successor took his supporters and broke off from the Neo Vongola forming the Giorno Vongola. The remainder of the Neo Vongola became the Notte Vongola and that first generation was tough because of the constant arguing over who really should inherit the Vongola. Both sides turned the the Varia and the Shimon for the answer - both were highly trusted by Secondo and Primo. However, neither would show favor of the other and the Neo Vongola was left split down the middle. [/style]

Created by the schism of the Neo Vongola, Giorno leaders are known for their straight-forward and blunt attitudes towards their politics. They'd rather take the fight to somebody rather than cower behind politics like their Notte counterpart - because of this, Giorno is more often in fights with other families due to this method of politics.
